Healthy Breakfast
A healthy breakfast jump-starts your metabolism and fuels you for your day’s activities, so don’t overlook this important meal. Select healthy options that fit your taste and lifestyle, and put breakfast back into your morning!
The benefits of a healthy breakfast
* Breakfast not only starts your day off right, but also lays the foundation for lifelong health benefits. People who eat a healthy breakfast are more likely to:
o Have better concentration and productivity throughout the entire day
o Control their weight
o Have lower cholesterol, which reduces the risk of heart disease
* A healthy breakfast can be quick and easy to prepare, and can even be taken with you in the morning! The ideal balance you should strive for is: 1 carbohydrate, 1 protein, 1 dairy and 1 fruit. Try to make sure your carbs are complex (from whole grains), and pay attention to portion sizes. Nutrient-dense foods like smoothies can incorporate all the different food groups you need, and can be easily eaten on the run.
* One example of a great balanced breakfast you could try would be:
o 1 fresh orange
o One half cup oatmeal
o 1 slice whole wheat toast with 1 tsp. almond butter
o 1 cup skim milk or soy milk
o Coffee ( Remember, coffee is not breakfast. Caffeine gives you a quick energy boost that needs to be replenished throughout the day, whereas a healthy breakfast will give your body long lasting energy that will help carry you through the day – without crashing later. Start your day the best way you can – with a filling breakfast!)

Enjoyed reading your article, great advice. I have always believed eating a healthy breakfast to start the day. Breakfast not only curbs your appetite for the day, but also gives you more energy for the rest of the day.
